NOMAS LECTURE THIS WEEK 3/10 Sean Canty
Studio SC is a design practice interested in creating spaces that activate perception. The work joins discrete geometric shapes, materials, and programs to invite closer readings of familiar spaces. By articulating these combinations in different levels of resolution, each project aims to shape new architectural types and formal compositions. The work of the studio materializes at a variety of scales—from objects to interiors—and explores a range of programs—from domestic environments to cultural spaces.
Sean Canty founded Studio SC in 2017. He is a Designer and Assistant Professor of Architecture at the Harvard Graduate School of Design, where he teaches architectural design in the Core Design Studios. Prior to joining the faculty at the GSD, Canty held teaching positions at the Cooper Union, University California Berkeley, and California College of the Arts. In addition to architectural design, Canty has taught classes on descriptive geometry and design media. Canty is one of the founding principals of Office III (OIII), an experimental architectural collective. Prior to this, Canty was a Project Designer at IwamotoScott Architecture in San Francisco. Canty received an M.Arch from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design and a B.Arch from California College of the Arts.
SoCal NOMAS 2021 Spring Lecture Series
As a collective effort of raising the voices of Black Indigenous People of Color, @socalnoma student chapters have prepared a series of lectures across the 9 participating Schools of Architecture that highlights and celebrates the work and achievements of designers of color. We invite respected guests and NOMAS members across SoCal to these talks. Together we hope to inspire and empower, to continue to be voices of the future of architecture. CPP NOMAS presents the third lecture in the series on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at 6pm PST. The NOMAS family would love to see you there!
