Dear SoCal NOMA Members and Allied Professionals,
As we embark on the journey of 2024, I am thrilled to share with you our strategic vision for the year ahead. Our goals encompass key pillars that are fundamental to our growth and impact as a chapter: increasing membership, advancing our profession, increasing the pipeline of minority architects, advocating for our communities, enhancing communication within our network, strengthening our relationship with our chapter partners, and identifying the needs for new leadership positions.
Growth: One of our primary objectives is to expand our membership base. By welcoming new voices and perspectives into our chapter community, we not only strengthen our organization but also enrich the diversity of ideas and experiences that shape our collective vision & mission. Let us actively reach out to colleagues, students, and professionals who share our passion for diversity in architecture and design, inviting them to join us on this remarkable journey.
Professional Advancement: In 2024, we are committed to fostering the professional growth and development of our members. Through our developing professionals programs, educational workshops, and networking opportunities, we aim to empower each of you to reach new heights in your careers. Whether you are a seasoned architect or a budding designer, there is always room to learn, grow, and innovate. Together, let us seize every opportunity to elevate our skills and expertise.
Community Advocacy: As architects and designers, we have a unique opportunity—and a responsibility—to advocate for the communities we serve. In 2024, let us redouble our efforts to address pressing social and environmental challenges in the Southern California Community through our work and our voice. Whether it is promoting sustainable design practices, advocating for affordable housing, or championing social justice initiatives, let us use our collective influence to make a positive impact on the AEC industry.
Enhanced Communication: Effective communication is the cornerstone of a strong and vibrant chapter. In the year ahead, we are committed to improving communication channels within our network, ensuring that vital information, resources, and opportunities are readily accessible to all members. From this new website to newsletters and social media updates to interactive forums and events, let us embrace new ways of connecting and collaborating with one another.
Identifying New Leadership Needs: To realize our strategic vision, it is imperative that we identify and nurture new leadership within our organization. We are currently seeking individuals to fill the positions of Vice President, Second Vice President, and Treasurer. These roles play a vital role in guiding our organization forward and ensuring its continued success. If you are passionate about advancing the mission of SoCal NOMA and have the skills and dedication to lead, we encourage you to consider running for one these important leadership roles. Our president elect Matthew Trotter is looking to build a strong leadership team to drive the growth of SoCal NOMA.
I am filled with optimism and excitement for 2024 and beyond. Our success hinges on the dedication, passion, and collective efforts of each and every one of you. Together, let us turn our strategic vision into a reality, shaping a brighter future for SoCal NOMA and the communities we serve.
Warm regards,
Craig L Atkinson
President, SoCal NOMA
